Finding The Right College Student Loan

As I watched my two daughters play the traditional Indian game of “Snakes and Ladders”, I was realizing, at every step, that there was a striking similarity this game has with our life’s journey. There are so many lessons that this game can teach us, including how to go about executing the biggest game in our hands i.e. “our own life”.

Relief from cosigner obligation could occur in a couple of ways. Developing well established study habits for a child begins with parents. The initial lessons begin with his or her observing parents at work modeling well established study habits.

The child should be allowed to work within the designated “study area” from distractions, his or her own desk would be recommendable. For students, after school, they need to be required to complete their homework within the study area. In this way, they can concentrate on studying with efficiency.

Principle #4: Your “customers” will not show up until you do. The 10% of people who want and need your stuff will not show up till YOU DO. You must show up first. You must stand up and say “This is who I am, this is what I have to offer, and if you want some, let’s talk.” Think about it, do you ever buy anything from someone, or from a company, without them first coming to you? Rarely, if ever does this happen. Usually, we see an advertisement, or someone makes a referral, or we find it on the internet. The point is, these people and products are already OUT THERE either finding you, or available for you to find. They have “shown up” and said “this is what I am, this is what I have to offer.” To employ Principle #4 that’s what you must do as well.

Being a cosignatory on a student loan obligates you to assume equal responsibility for repayment. It is an obligation that could adversely affect your credit rating should default occur. You should obligate yourself to gather and retain copies of all pertinent document. You should, of course, have considerable trust in the integrity and trustworthiness of your student.

Stress when under control is good thing, it will allow you to push yourself and achieve more than you thought possible. Sometimes though extreme stress can freeze your mind during the exams.

Understanding that you have a life purpose and knowing what it is helps you to retain a feeling of control and peace through the difficult times. It also assists you to objectively view the reason behind the dramas that are played out on your life journey, rather than immersing yourself in them.

Comfortable space. The place should be a little comfortable, but not to the extent that you’re so at ease that would result to become sleepy easily. Make sure that you’re far away from your bed. There’s a great correlation between the bed and studying. When you study in bed, you’ll easily get sleepy.

The responsibility bestowed on a cosigner after all the money has been spent, the classes taken, and the loan payments begin, could last for many years. Give careful consideration to all the factors that surround cosigning a student loan.
