So, I tried the original method of ACME installer and all. a good look at the genius that is Cyanogen. my only issue is that inspite of downloading the battery fix from Liliputing’ my touch pad is really struggling to hold a charge. Even I had the same problem but I solved it.

I was worried when the install seemed to stop for a while–I even unplugged the TP, plugged it back in, and was just about to execute the command again, when it continued to scroll text. double click on UniversalNovacomInstaller and follow instructions to extract and install. Then copy ACMEInstaller2 file into same directory where novacom.exe is installed in on Win7.

I like to see Goolge to open more of the android ecosystem, but Cyanogen should not be a the representative for the movemnet that is interested in it. Open source is so fast to get a pass on being Evil around here. More people who own an Android phone have the skills to rebuild an engine than to properly interpret the source code of their phone. Open source CYANOGEN GO only matters if you have the skills to understand the code.

Follow the instructions on the CyanogenMod Wiki to install adb. You basically need to download some software, unzip it, execute it, and in the menu that appears, select a fairly minimal set of tools to install. The initial install isn’t the full suite of software, it’s just an installer you use to get the stuff you really need. There were other minor problems—clearly the Nook OS is based on an old version of Android. There’s also lots of little annoyances like having apps pop up messages “Syncing Your Library” while watching a movie. I tried disabling that and replacing it with another one from the app store, but that never worked very well; I was unable to really disable the Nook’s lock screen, and the new lock screen didn’t work right.
